“Leasing is the quickest way to get new cars into the market”
Leaseurope Director General Richard Knubben has spoken to Dutch broadcaster BNR about the European Commission’s plans to accelerate the transition to zero-emission corporate fleets.
Appearing on De Nationale Autoshow on 25 September, Knubben discussed the proposed EU requirements for leasing and rental fleets and their potential impact on the cost and availability of vehicle finance.
Knubben highlighted the important role of leasing in bringing newer, cleaner vehicles onto European roads, while stressing that the transition needs to take account of affordability, customer demand and the wider conditions needed for electrification.
The interview comes as the proposed Clean Corporate Vehicles framework is being considered at EU level. Leaseurope has called for policies that support the transition without unnecessarily restricting the choice or affordability of mobility for businesses and consumers.
