Leasing to SMEs
A unique research project, that demonstrates the vital role leasing plays for European SMEs as well as the potential leasing has in contributing to greater economic growth by stimulating investment in Europe.
A comprehensive research project
Leasing is an increasingly vital source of SME finance. To better understand how this key segment evolved over time, Leaseurope has undertaken comprehensive research on leasing to SMEs at European level in conjunction with leading economic consultancy Oxford Economics.
3 000 SMEs in 8 European countries were surveyed between August and September in 2014, thereby updating and building on our pioneering study conducted in 2011.
This exclusive research demonstrates that leasing is a reliable source of investment finance for the SME sector and that promotion of this market would boost SME growth in the future. This should help raise awareness of leasing and support the promotion of European and national initiatives aimed at improving SME access to finance.
Relevance of this research
Our research fills an information gap with detailed hard data on leasing to SMEs at European level. It quantifies the size and characteristics of the SME leasing market, compares its use with other forms of finance, investigates its role in supporting exporting and high growth SMEs in particular, examines the reasons SMEs use leasing, and quantifies how an uptake in SME leasing could potentially benefit the European economy.
These reports are available free of charge to Leaseurope's national member associations and leasing companies that form part of their network. If you would like to obtain a copy of the 2015 or 2011 editions, please contact t.giang [at] leaseurope.org (Tham Giang.)
